Read 20 Volunteer Application
Read 20 is dedicated to creating a strong community of readers by promoting the
importance of reading with children for a minimum of 20 minutes every day.
Opportunities for volunteering with Read 20 include but are not limited to:
- Read with groups of young children with the Readmobile and under the direction of
the Readmobile Coordinator
- Participate in read alouds at various community Read 20 events; (examples) various
reading centers and day care venues, the Hamilton County Fair, Riverbend, Read Across
America, Read for the Record, and on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at the Chattanooga
Market
- Participate in book related activities with children and Read 20 at various school,
day care and event locations
- Participate as a guest reader on Thursday’s WSMC 90.5 FM’s “Read with Me”
- Assist in the sorting of books for grade and content level for distribution through
the Readmobile
For each of the opportunities, the duration of time and date will vary. The Read
20 staff will work with you on customizing a perfect time and date that works for
you. Your time commitment and love for reading will certainly impact the lives of
children throughout Hamilton County. We look forward to meeting you. You may reach
