Hamilton County Readmobile Request Form

Read20 small

The Mission for Read 20 is clear.  Read 20 is a public/private partnership promoting literacy skills for early childhood, in an effort to create a community of readers, and in support of Hamilton County’s community literacy goals. The Reading Initiative, a direct outgrowth of County Mayor Claude Ramsey’s 2004 Education Summit, was funded and supervised by the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga.

  • The goal for Hamilton County is:

By 2010, at least 95% of all Hamilton County students will read at or above grade level by the end of the 3rd grade and thereafter will maintain or improve their grade level equivalence.

The Readmobile serves as one of Read 20’s most essential services; the provide children with an access to books.  The Readmobile will provide an age appropriate read aloud, a related activity and one free book per child.  Due the popularity of the Readmobile, it is important that your request for the Readmobile reach the Read 20 office in plenty of time for scheduling.  We suggest a four to six week window of opportunity for planning.

To assure that the children enjoy the highest quality of educational and entertaining activities, we reserve the right to limit the number of children to a reasonable ratio for each activity.  The Readmobile Coordinator will speak directly to your contact person for that determination.

Please remember that the Readmobile is 36 feet in length, 13 feet high and 7 feet wide. The parking and location of the Readmobile is important for safety and easy delivery of activities.

Read 20 staff wants to provide a quality educational experience for the children, parents, and professionals participating in each of the Readmobile excursions.  The Readmobile Coordinator will talk to the contact person(s) at your organization to assure that the books read are content and age appropriate and the activities are related to current curriculum and subject matter familiar to the children.

Please complete the request form and return it to the Read 20 office either by email, fax or regular mail.  TheReadmobile Coordinator or other Read 20 staff will confirm the date, time and location for your request.

Please complete the  request form and either return by mail:  Readmobile Coordinator, Read 20, 317 Oak Street, Chattanooga, TN  37403, or fax:  423-209-6191, or click the submit button:
